Soft oil still life on canvas in which one sees a Japanese vase full of flowers, by René Vogelweith (1881-1950). Title: Still life with the Japanese vase Provenance: Atelier Augustin Memin, pupil of the artist. Artist: René Vogelweith (1881-1950) Technique: oil on canvas Signature: Signed and dated Format: 27x22 cm Condition: Excellent condition. Paul René Vogelweith was a French painter born on January 27, 1881 in Guebwiller and died on January 7, 1950 in Strasbourg. He was mainly active in Alsace, and is notably listed in Charles Lotz's authoritative work on Alsatian painters. His work consists largely of oil paintings and watercolors depicting urban and rural landscapes. He extensively illustrated scenes of Alsatian villages, the Strasbourg Cathedral, as well as the old quarters of Paris such as Montmartre.
