Richard Ginori - Gio Ponti - Dish (6) - serie Sport - Porcelain

Gio Ponti (1891-1979), six (6) plates Sport Series, Richard Ginori, 1930. Refined set of six porcelain plates by Richard Ginori, belonging to the “Gli Sport” series, designed by Gio Ponti, produced in 1938. The six pieces feature different sporting depictions, with small polychrome figures characterized by dynamic, elegant and stylized poses, expression of the Italian Art Deco taste of the Thirties. The decorations, placed at the center of the white surface, depict athletes and couples engaged in various sports, including hockey and tennis. Particularly interesting is the contrast between the delicacy of the figures, executed in soft pastel tones, and the lively red edge, which follows the slightly wavy profile of the plates. On the back of each piece is the original Richard Ginori mark, accompanied by factory numbers, including «5-38», «35» and «462», which allow dating production to 1938. The Gio Ponti sports series constitutes a significant testament to his collaboration with Richard Ginori, in which the Milanese architect and designer managed to combine formal elegance, modernity and irony. Measurements: 12.5 x 3 cm. Excellent condition. National and international tracked shipping with express courier.
