Property from the Hilton Head Island Estate, SC Description: Richard MacDonald (CA, b. 1946), The Gymnast Flair Bust, Terracotta and Stone, signed and dated '98' on side of torso, a terracotta partial torso of a male gymnast balanced on a columnar black stone base. Height of terracotta: 7 1/4 in. Richard MacDonald is a figurative artist known for his bronze sculptures and work with the Cirque du Soleil. MacDonald studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He had a successful career as an illustrator before he turned to sculpture. His work can be found in the corporate collections of AT&T and IBM, among others, as well as many significant private collections. He has completed several notable commissions, including The Flair for the 1996 Summer Olympics.Measurements: Height: overall 13 1/2 in. x Width: 5 in. x Depth: 6 in. Condition: Good condition, faint marks to one shoulder and shoulder blade.
