Inside the original rigid leather case is also preserved the period-typewritten label bearing the same name and address: "Prof. Dr. von Frankenberg, 3 Hannover, Kaulbachstr. 4". Prof. Dr. Gerhard von Frankenberg (1892–1969) was a distinguished zoologist, author and German politician, former director of the Natural History Museum of Braunschweig.
