ROLLINAT (Maurice). *Neuroses: Souls, Lusts, Refuges, Spectres, Darkness*. Paris: G. Charpentier, 1883. In-8, almond-green half-maroquin with corner pieces, smooth spine decorated with gilded circles and arches embellished with red mosaic floral motifs, gilt head, untrimmed, cover (René Kieffer). First edition, featuring an engraved portrait of the author by Desmoulin. One of 50 copies printed on Holland paper. A unique copy adorned with 102 remarkable original watercolors by Clovis Lessieux, whose colors and compositions perfectly complement the poet’s wildest and most morbid descriptions. The artist signed and dated his work at the end of the volume: *Finis coronat opus November 1908 Clovis Lessieux*. Pages 25–26 and 95–102 are missing, likely removed from the volume because of the poems (*Les Vierges*, *Mystère*, *Les Seins*, *La Torture*, and *La Circé moderne*) they contained and/or because Clovis Lessieux’s illustration proved too suggestive. Crease at the lower corner of the front cover, spine uniformly faded, one corner slightly open.
