Royal Dux Bohemia - Bookends (2) - Porcelain - Art Deco - circa 1920

Rare and elegant pair of Art Deco bookends in glazed porcelain from the Royal Dux Bohemia manufactory, Czechoslovakia, dating from the 1920s–1930s. Each piece features a sculpted elephant in white glazed porcelain, carrying a stylized rug with a cobalt blue and gold geometric design. The animals rest on substantial architectural pedestals with radiating motifs, particularly characteristic of the Art Deco decorative vocabulary. Brand Royal Dux on a pink raised triangle under the base, as well as a recessed mark and model number. Overall condition good for its age. Some small chips and signs of use mainly under the bases. One of the two pieces shows an old restoration (see photos).
