Sam Francis (American, 1923-1994) attributed: Abstract Composition. Oil on canvas, signed below, unframed. Sam Francis was a second-generation abstract expressionist who, with artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell, experimented with the expressive use of color. While in Paris, his work became associated with the Tachisme, the French equivalent to abstract expressionism. 19.5 x 15.75 inches canvas. Private collection, Antwerp, Belgium; 1970, Lynn Vandermeulen, Belgium; 2005 North Carolina Estate, USA.
