Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / Santicri - Compressed Icon, La Giconda
Santicri has participated in numerous art exhibitions of international prominence. Among the most significant, in 2022 he exhibited his works at the prestigious Palazzo Grillo in Genoa, and in 2023 he was present at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York, thereby expanding his visibility in both national and international contexts. Santicri was recognized among the Best-Selling Artists of 2024 by Artmayeur, one of the most renowned platforms in the art world. In the same year, he was also listed among the top three most searched names on the Catawiki platform, a further sign of growing appreciation for his work. These recognitions highlight the extraordinary talent and increasing visibility of Santicri in the contemporary art scene. Santicri Mixed media Measurements: 32x20 cm The work is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity handwritten Edition limited x/100 An universal image is subjected to real pressure. The surface of the canvas is no longer neutral: it is pulled, bent, held. The icon loses its stability and becomes matter, body, visible tension. The clothespins are not only a formal element, but a gesture. They lock the image in an intermediate state, as if it had been stopped while it was trying to expand or escape. The face remains recognizable, but is compressed, forced into a new shape that alters its balance. The work plays on the contrast between classical perfection and contemporary physical intervention. What was untouchable is manipulated, held, almost disciplined. It is not destroyed, but transformed under pressure. From it emerges a reflection on how stable the images we know really are: just a minimal force is enough to change one’s perception, to reveal that even the most solid icons can be bent, deformed and rewritten. Oil on canvas 350 g/m², mounted on a fir wood frame, frame not included. The work will be shipped with random numbering. SHIPPING INSURED! The package is carefully packed. The artist established himself in 2024 as one of the most sought-after names on Catawiki, immediately ranking after icons like Kaws and Banksy. His art stands out in an exclusive context that includes other categories of excellence, such as Rolex, Lego, Louis Vuitton, Porsche, Eames, Macallan, Tintin, Cartier and Pokémon. A talent recognized not only for its creative value but also as one of the most promising investments of the year. Born in 1992 in Macerata, Marche, the Italian artist pursued a path that between studies of Geometer and Architecture led him to collaborate with a resin sculpture craftsman. There the growing need to find himself and unleash his creativity was born. His works are sold all over the world, collaborating with galleries in Italy and Europe. His art is widely appreciated and cannot be missed among collectors of street art paintings and sculptures, pop art, contemporary art. "It’s never easy to classify one’s art; I try to convey what my eyes see, my way of seeing what surrounds me and I rework it with a design that blends well with modern times: impactful and memorable."
