Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / Santicri - Compressed Icon, The Starry Night
Santicri has participated in numerous internationally renowned art exhibitions. Among the most significant, in 2022 he exhibited his works at the prestigious Palazzo Grillo in Genoa, and in 2023 he was present at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York, further expanding his visibility in both national and international contexts. Santicri was recognized among the Best-Selling Artists of 2024 by Artmayeur, one of the most renowned platforms in the art world. In the same year, he was also placed among the top three most searched names on the Catawiki platform, another sign of the growing appreciation for his work. These recognitions highlight Santicri’s extraordinary talent and increasing visibility in the contemporary art scene. Santicri Mixed media Dimensions: 32 x 20 cm The artwork is accompanied by a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity Limited edition x/100 A universal image is subjected to real pressure. The surface of the canvas is no longer neutral: it is pulled, folded, restrained. The icon loses its stability and becomes matter, body, visible tension. The clothespins are not only a formal element, but a gesture. They lock the image in an intermediate state, as if it had been paused while trying to expand or escape. The face remains recognizable, but is compressed, forced into a new form that alters its balance. The artwork works on the contrast between classical perfection and contemporary physical intervention. What was untouchable is manipulated, restrained, almost disciplined. It is not destroyed, but transformed under pressure. From it emerges a reflection on how stable the images we know really are: it takes only a minimal force to change perception, to reveal that even the most solid icons can be bent, deformed, and rewritten. Oil on canvas 350 g/m², mounted on a fir wood frame, frame not included. The artwork will be shipped with random numbering. SHIPPING INSURED! The package is carefully packed. The artist established himself in 2024 as one of the most sought-after names on Catawiki, immediately ranking behind icons such as Kaws and Banksy. His art stands out in an exclusive context that includes other categories of excellence, such as Rolex, Lego, Louis Vuitton, Porsche, Eames, Macallan, Tintin, Cartier, and Pokémon. A talent recognized not only for creative value but also as one of the most promising investments of the year. Born in 1992 in Macerata, Marche, the Italian artist followed a path that, between studies in Geometry and Architecture, led him to collaborate with a resin sculpture craftsman. There, the strong need to find oneself and give free rein to creativity grew. His works are sold worldwide, collaborating with galleries in Italy and Europe. His art is widely appreciated and cannot be missing among collectors of street art, pop art, and contemporary art paintings and sculptures. "It’s never easy to classify one’s art; I try to convey what my eyes see, my way of perceiving what surrounds me, and I rework it with a design that suits modern times: impactful and memorable."
