Description of the work An iconic work is struck by a provocative gesture: a portion of spaghetti with sauce appears to explode across the surface of the canvas, transforming a famous image into an irreverent and contemporary artistic intervention. In “Desecrated”, Santicri questions the concept of the untouchable image, intervening on a symbol of art history through an everyday-life element. The contrast between the refinement of the original work and the spontaneity of the gesture creates a visual tension that oscillates between irony, provocation, and material experimentation. The spaghetti depicted in the work is not real, but an artistic reproduction made to simulate the appearance and texture of the pasta, becoming an integral part of the creative intervention. The sauce and the painted elements contribute to create a dynamic effect, as if the gesture had just occurred, freezing on the canvas a moment of apparent disorder. The intervention is not limited to desecrating an iconic image: it reinterprets it, generating a new balance between tradition and contemporaneity, high culture and everyday life, preservation and transformation.
