SAXE (Maurice de). *Mes rêveries*, a posthumous work. Expanded to include a biography and various related pieces by Abbé Pérau. Amsterdam & Leipzig, Arkstée and Merkus; also available in Paris, Desaint and Saillant, Durand, 1757. 2 volumes in-4, scaly calfskin, triple gilt fillet, decorated spine, inner roulette, gilt edges (contemporary binding). The finest edition of this military treatise by Marshal de Saxe, originally published in 1756. It is illustrated with 84 plates, most of them fold-out, engraved by Patte, Moitte, and Tardieu, depicting uniforms, battle formations, etc. Volume I: the leaf corresponding to pp. 65–66 is incorrectly bound after p. 104. The binding is heavily scuffed, with damage to the cap bands; two split clamps on Volume I and an open hinge on Volume II. Significant ink stains on the covers, extending into the margins of the volume.
