Vintage Scandalli piano accordion (80 basses) - Made in Italy (Castelfidardo) - To be revised In the auction, a splendid piece of history of Italian musical tradition: a vintage Scandalli-branded piano accordion, a prestigious Castelfidardo company. The instrument presents itself aesthetically in good condition for its age, with all the mid-century design charm characterized by the famous vertical chrome grille with bars. Technical specifications: • Brand: Scandalli (Castelfidardo) • Serial Number / Registry: 258/48 (stamped on the case) • Basses: 80 basses (left side, arranged in 5 rows) • Stop registers at treble: 4 round selectors (Normal Sub 16'+8', Complex 8'+4'+4', Celeste 4'+4', Normal 4') • Finish: Glossy black with vintage ivory-effect keyboard Current condition and notes for restoration (SOLD AS-SEEN FOR RESTORATION): The instrument is explicitly offered as a restoration project or for parts, highlighting the following technical details: • Bellows and Tone: The bellows are present; when opened and closed the accordion responds promptly and emits a strong sound, evidence that the interior reeds are intact and active. • Bass Button Keyboard (FUNCTIONAL): Unlike the treble side, all 80 black buttons on the bass side function normally, depress and return to position without any sticking, with a smooth and responsive mechanism. • Keyboard mechanics (Treble side): The right-hand keyboard requires mechanical revision. Some keys stay depressed without returning due to loose or detached return springs, while a couple of keys are stuck in a lowered, rigid position. Because of this valve lock, the instrument emits a continuous sound as soon as the bellows move. • Straps and Shoulder Straps (Partially replaceable): The original leather straps are present only partially. The left strap is intact and attached. The right strap is broken in half due to natural aging of the leather (on the upper metal pin only a stub remains, the rest is detached). The strap set should thus be considered for replacement for operation.
