Made entirely by hand in Murano, this small sculpture unites two souls of Venetian glass: the ruby red of a heart and the transparency of a block of crystal filled with bubbles. The heart, hot-formed in solid ruby red transparent glass, has a soft, slightly asymmetric shape, gracefully inclined as if resting on its base in balance. The rounded, thicker edges delineate its profile, while at the center the color becomes deeper; when viewed against the light, the red warms into shades, up to orange. At the base of the heart, at the point where it is fused to the crystal, the glass reveals a delicate golden veil. The base is a cube of crystal glass with a effervescent effect: the glass mass is traversed by a dense cloud of air bubbles, small and large, that catch the light and multiply it into brilliant reflections. This is a typical Murano technique, born in the twenties, which gives the glass a lively, almost effervescent appearance. The surfaces of the base, polished but deliberately not perfect, resemble a block of ice. The contrast between the solid red of the heart and the sparkling transparency of the base makes the sculpture an elegant and symbolic design object, perfect on a desk, a shelf, or a nightstand.
