Sculpture, Gondola - 12 cm - Murano glass - 2026

Handcrafted entirely by hand in Murano, this sculpture captures in a few essential lines the timeless elegance of the Venetian gondola. The gondola, in glossy black solid glass, is hand-shaped into a soft, continuous curve that arches like a crescent. At the prow stands out the characteristic iron, rendered with fine raised ribs that evoke its famous “teeth”; at the stern the line sweeps upward and ends in a refined scroll. The gondola rests in balance on a crystal cube worked with the pulegoso technique: a dense pattern of air bubbles deliberately created in the glass gives it a living, tactile look, like lagoon water. The contrast between deep black and the transparency of the crystal enhances the purity of the form. Pulegoso is one of Murano glass’s historic techniques, famous in the twentieth century and still much loved by collectors today for its unique character: no two bubble patterns are ever the same. A sober and refined work of art, perfect for elegant décor on a bookshelf, a desk, or a shelf, or as a precious keepsake of Venice. Each sculpture is unique: the curve of the gondola, the iron details, and the pulegoso pattern vary from piece to piece, a sign of the entirely handmade craftsmanship.
