The painting's style fits fully within the Neapolitan Baroque of the 17th century, showing a strong adherence to the models of Neapolitan classicism. The main stylistic elements that define the work include: Soft chiaroscuro and naturalism: The use of light and shadow models the faces and the flesh in a plastic way, deriving from the Neapolitan Caravaggism, but mediated by a gentler and more nuanced rendering of the forms. Lyrical quality and classical grace: The affectionate arrangement, the serene expression of the Virgin, and the tender gesture of the Child circling her neck show the influence of Emiliano classicism (in particular Guido Reni). This fusion of realism and ideal grace is the hallmark of masters such as Massimo Stanzione and his circle. Warm tones and drapery: The palette concentrates on warm tones (the red of the garment, the browns of the background) contrasted by the blue of the mantle and the bright white of the fringed veil, treated with heavy and naturalistic folds. The work shows the typical characteristics of a private devotional painting, produced by a workshop or by a follower of a Neapolitan school active between the Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries.
