Selenite Gypsum with Native Sulfur Inclusions Crystals...

Up for auction, an exceptional and monumental single crystal of Gypsum, Selenite variety, enriched with spectacular and abundant internal inclusions of native Sulfur. The sample comes from the historic mining district of the Gypsum-Sulphur Formation of Sicily (Cozzo Disi) and is part of an old-era private collection. The crystal amazes with its true cabinet-sized dimensions. The Sicilian sulfur mines have been closed for decades and the sites are now inaccessible; pieces of this caliber, with integrity and transparency, are no longer reproducible and represent a safe long-term investment for enthusiasts of Italian topographic mineralogy.
