Stunning lithograph by Serge Charchoune in which an abstract geometric composition appears in pastel tones. Limited edition of 500 copies, this one numbered 200. Framed in a turned-leather mat, not removed from the frame. Serge Charchoune (1888–1975) was a Russian-born painter and poet associated with the School of Paris. After deserting the Russian army in 1912, he settled in France and Spain, where he actively mingled with the Dada movement and began exploring Cubism. A pioneer of abstract art, he developed a singular style oscillating between figuration and pure abstraction. His avant-garde investigations led him to become one of the early explorers of monochrome painting as early as the 1920s. He died in the Île-de-France region, leaving behind a sober, poetic body of work deeply inspired by music.
