They are suspended in a lustrous silver-grey matrix of nickel-iron, traced with fine metallic veins. They are thought to form at the boundary between the metal core and rocky mantle of a differentiated asteroid, shattered by an ancient collision early in the solar system’s history. Sericho is prized for its high olivine content and the warm, translucent glow of its crystals, which light up dramatically when held to the light.
