Alle Auktionen / Antike Kunst / Set of 15 Hina Ningyo dolls for Hinamatsuri - Bisque...

Sets of 15 traditional Japanese Hinamatsuri dolls. The set includes the main Emperor and Empress (Odairi-sama and Ohime-sama), the ladies-in-waiting, musicians, and attendants. The dolls wear multi-layer kimonos in silk or brocade with intricate workmanship, traditional hairstyles, and are accompanied by a miniature gold-leaf byobu screen as a backdrop. The figures depict a scene from the Imperial Court, a hallmark of traditional Japanese culture, typically displayed on Girls’ Day. Materials and craftsmanship Faces in gofun paste (ground shells), fabrics in silk and synthetic brocade, wood, lacquered finish, gold leaf paper for the screen. Each figure measures about 8 cm per side. The set is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of aging on the fabrics. The faces show no evident cracks or pigment loss. Some small accessories may show slight signs of wear due to age, but the overall condition is excellent. That said, some accessories are missing or incomplete: - The central figure on the second level lacks the sanpo (the ritual tray with a cup). - The flutist on the third level lacks the flute. - The Taiko drum lacks its drum skin. - One or two other small objects may be missing from the hands of the figures. Produced by Fujisawa Kamiko Ya, a handicraft shop in Fujisawa, in the late 1980s. The set was purchased by me in Japan in 1990.
