Book Condition, As New: An unread, unused book in perfect condition. The dust jacket is pristine, free from blemishes or tears, all cover artwork remains bright and vibrant. Now protected by plastic slipcover. Original black binding with gilt lettering along spine remains mint. Clean text block with crisp page edges. Pages are tightly bound, clean and tidy throughout, never thumbed or opened. A first edition, first printing hardback of Philip Larkin, The Marvell Press and Me, signed by Jean Hartley. Copies are scarce, especially in such excellent condition, making this a highly collectible item for enthusiasts of Larkin, small-press history, and modern British literary culture. This memoir offers Jean Hartley's first-hand account of her involvement with The Marvell Press and her relationship with Philip Larkin, providing an intimate look at the practical and personal realities of independent publishing. Hartley writes with clarity and insight, blending anecdote with cultural observation as she traces the press's origins, challenges, and influence. The book is both a compelling personal narrative and an important document of a formative period in postwar British literature, valued for its rare perspective and historical significance.
