[Signed] [First Edition] The Girl with a Squint SIMENON

[Intrigue] SIGNED FIRST US EDITION, stated. Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.[iv]; 163; [1], blank. Publisher's brown cloth, with silver titles to spine, pictorial dust-jacket designed by Seymour Chwast, priced at $7.95 to front flap. With autograph of Georges Simenon to the title page, dated 1983. Contents clean, one tiny spot to fore-edge, jacket crisp and fresh. A domestic psychological thriller novel from a master of the genre. The Belgian writer Simenon was an Americanophile; during the 40s and 50s he lived in Arizona, California and Connecticut; two of his children were born in America and he was elected president of the Mystery Writers of America. In later years he returned to Europe but maintained ties with the U.S., visiting on several occasions. Signed American editions are therefore more accessible than their British counterparts.
