Alle Auktionen / Schmuck und Edelsteine / Silver Brooch by Theodor Fahrner, Circa 1955
Fahrner jewellery from Pforzheim occupies a special place in the history of Art Nouveau and Art Deco jewellery. Theodor Fahrner and later his successor Gustav Braendle knew better than almost any other jewellery manufacturer of the modern era how to make artistically convincing designs and quality workmanship the hallmark of their brooches, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The brooch presented here is abstract in design. With eye-catching skill, various surface finishes have been used to set the scene for this minimalist piece of jewellery. In addition to interesting texturing, a smoothly polished mirror-like surface shines and leads over to small silver beads. The brooch is made of silver and was executed in the 1950s. The brooch came to us in the sample case of a travelling salesman. The suitcase slumbered untouched in an attic for the last decades. This piece of jewellery from the 1950s is therefore unworn and perfectly preserved. A wonderful overview of the wealth of designs can be found in the catalogue "Theodor Fahrner. Schmuck zwischen Avantgarde und Tradition", edited by Brigitte Leonhardt and Dieter Zühlsdorff, Stuttgart 2005. Fahrner jewellery is often collected.
