“Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the passing on of the flame.” This quote is attributed to the symphonist Gustav Mahler (1860–1911). This statement is particularly apt for this modern ring, as its romantic symbolism follows a centuries-old tradition. The ring was created on our commission and is a beautiful example of the enduring legacy of a classic design that, at the same time, does not deny the era in which it was created. The understated, modern ring band, crafted from high-karat yellow gold, features three sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.81 carats, with a larger center stone flanked by two smaller brilliant-cut diamonds. The center stone sparkles in rare white+ (F), while the smaller diamonds to its right and left also shine in rare white+—the second in the White color grade (H). The natural gemstones have only very, very small inclusions. As a result, the high-quality diamonds stand out clearly against the warm yellow gold ring band, almost like spotlights bathing a stage in radiant light. The ring’s design concept is rooted in the tradition of trilogy rings. Here, the number of gemstones symbolizes the shared past, present, and future. With its emphasis on the center, the ring thus becomes a “Carpe Diem” in jewel form. All three diamonds are vintage diamonds from the 1970s. They were part of a brooch that we were able to acquire along with other jewellery, but which, unfortunately, could no longer be repaired. Thanks to its shape as well as its symbolic meaning, our ring makes the perfect engagement ring or a gift of love.
