Sparkling “Trilogy” Ring with Vintage Diamonds in Platinum, Handcrafted

“Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the passing on of the fire.” The famous symphonist Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) already knew this. This statement applies particularly well to this modern ring, as its romantic symbolism follows an ancient tradition. The ring was commissioned by us and is a beautiful example of the enduring legacy of a classic design that, at the same time, does not deny its era of origin. The understated, modern platinum ring band features three sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.60 carats, with a larger center stone weighing 0.24 ct flanked by two smaller brilliant-cut diamonds with a combined total weight of 0.36 ct. What makes this ring special is that all three diamonds are vintage diamonds. They came to us as part of pieces of jewellery from the 1970s and 1980s. However, the diamonds were in perfect condition and of very good quality, so we decided to set them in this ring, which was newly crafted by our goldsmiths. The design concept for the ring draws on the tradition of trilogy rings, which are imbued with symbolic meaning: the number of gemstones in these pieces is meant to represent the shared past, present, and future. Diamonds, which according to legend are indestructible and thus eternally enduring, serve as a promise of eternity. Thanks to its shape and its symbolic meaning, our ring can therefore be the perfect engagement ring or a token of love.
