Splendor Euro Shop - Hendrik DEVOS - 1983 - Cycling jersey

This is an iconic retro cycling jersey from the Belgian professional cycling team Splendor, specifically from the 1983 cycling season. The shirt represents an important era in Belgian cycling and was worn by: Hendrik DEVOS, a strong Belgian former professional rider known as a domestique and breakaway specialist. He rode in his career for well-known teams. He rode several grand tours (including the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia) and achieved podiums in tough classics such as Liège–Bastogne–Liège. In the year this particular Euro Shop shirt was worn, a few big names rode for the team: Claude Criquielion: The later world champion (1984) and winner of the Tour of Flanders and La Flèche Wallonne. Eddy Planckaert: One of the most successful Belgian sprinters and classics riders of his generation. Walter Planckaert: Also a very successful Flemish rider and Eddy's older brother. Rudy Dhaenens: Who at the time started as a young neo-pro with the team and would later become world champion in 1990. The zipper works rather stiffly.
