Steck Yena forden Yams Kult Kwoma - Washkuk ***Kunst der Kwoma und Nukuma*** Mit Rückenhaken On the photo the use of a Steckyena is depicted. Smaller Yena are slipped around the king Yena. The Kwoma and Nukuma live on the foothills of the upland country rising from Ambunti. They practice, like the Abelam, a life-determining yam cult. While the Abelam devote everything to cultivating the individual yam tubers as long as possible — the longest reach nearly 4 m — the Kwoma and Nukuma pile up enormous heaps of yams and adorn these heaps with Yenastab masks by arranging them altar-like within the pile.
