Exhibited: Agnew's Gallery, London, 'Platform', 2011. Susie MacMurray is a former professional classical musician who retrained in fine art, graduating with an MA in Fine Art in 2001. She now works across the media of sculpture, drawing and site specific installations, and at the heart of her work is an exploration of materials. Her works reveal a rare aptitude for combining unusual materials, such as plastic food wrap in the present work, to create pieces that are arresting, beautiful and challenge our senses. As she states, she is driven by: '…curiosity and asking “what if?”. I am looking not only for new materials, but for new ways to handle, combine and manipulate the stuff that human bodies interact with.'
