The Death of Hippolytus - Italian or French Master - 17th Century

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions 57 x 101 cm. Mythological scene set in stables where several figures carry a lifeless body while horses agitate in the background. The dynamism of the figures and the theatricality of the composition evoke the great classical narratives as interpreted by 17th-century European Baroque painting. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
