Theodore Claude Felix A Ligny (1798-1871) - Fontainebleau landscape

Paris, Grand Palais; Ottawa, Musée des Beaux-Arts & New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Corot, exhibition. cat., Paris 1996, p.266 During his stay in Rome from 1822 to 1827, d'Aligny worked closely with Corot, with his naturalistic studies of the campagna exerting a significant influence on the elder artist. D'Aligny's groundbreaking view of landscape as an organization of forms and mass formed the basis for much of the later development of the genre up to and including the work of Cézanne. In 1828 he became one of the first landscape painters to visit the Forest of Fontainebleau. Fronia Wissman dates Homere et les bergeres to around 1840, which would make it an important source for Corot's treatment of the theme from 1845, particularly in the figurative grouping (Saint-Lô, Musée des Beaux-Arts). As Michael Pantazzi has noted, this seems to be the only deliberate imitation of a contemporary in Corot's oeuvre, and it shows the esteem in which he held d'Aligny (see Paris; Ottawa & New York 1996, Work comes from his own large private collection; it is dusty and clean, and can last for many years, canvas size 94 x 68 cm, expensive framed, which fits it perfectly; pickup is actually preferred, hence the costs approx. for shipping; the work will be packaged and shipped by a professional; we can then be 100 percent sure it will arrive, especially when it comes to prices; the photos are indicative, approx. price; they also have a much smaller canvas size; just search on Google for approximate prices; this size occurs rarely. This work can be dated ca. 1885. The frame has slight paint damage along the edges but is, of course, repairable and not visible. The frame already costs more than a thousand euros, but then there is also a beautiful expensive painting that matches it perfectly.
