Tobacco box - Silver - Ottoman silver niello

Antique Ottoman case in 900-silver, intricately decorated with traditional Niello technique. The piece is attributed to the Van region in Eastern Anatolia and bears corresponding assay marks/stamps on the interior. The exterior surfaces are richly decorated with floral ornaments, geometric borders, and contrasting black Niello inlays. The sides are also elaborately worked. Origin: Van, Eastern Anatolia / Ottoman Empire Period: approx. 1850–1900 Material: 900-silver with Niello decoration Manufacturer: unknown Condition: good age-appropriate condition with patina, scratches and normal signs of use; see photos.
