Trilobite - Fossilised animal - Dicranurus Trilobite - 12 cm

Striking specimen of Dicranurus from the renowned Lower Devonian deposits of Morocco, a region famous for producing some of the world’s most spectacular trilobites. This genus is especially admired for its dramatic and elaborate spination. The specimen displays the characteristic long, sweeping genal and thoracic spines that give Dicranurus its unmistakable and highly decorative appearance. The three-dimensional preservation enhances its visual impact, with the spines extending dynamically from the body, creating a sculptural and aesthetically powerful presentation. The fossil exhibits well-defined segmentation and clear exoskeletal detail. Its natural relief and careful preparation allow the intricate morphology to be fully appreciated. Moroccan Devonian trilobites are highly regarded among collectors for their preservation quality and striking forms. Trilobites are distant relatives of modern arthropods such as lobsters and horseshoe crabs. They flourished in Earth’s oceans for hundreds of millions of years, evolving into an extraordinary diversity of shapes before becoming extinct at the end of the Paleozoic era. Specimens like this provide a fascinating glimpse into marine life more than 400 million years ago.
