Trinitite - impact glass from the Trinity nuclear test...

Trinitite, also known as Alamogordo glass, is the glassy residue left on the desert floor after the Trinity plutonium nuclear test on July 16, 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico, United States. It is mainly composed of sand melted by the explosion, whose formation required about 4,300 gigajoules of thermal energy. The material involved in the explosion was overheated for about 2 to 3 seconds before re-solidifying. Trinitite no longer contains enough radiation to be harmful. It still contains the radionuclides 241Am, 137Cs, and 152Eu due to Trinity using a plutonium bomb. The specimen will be delivered in a photo box with a passe-partout and with information printed on the back about the organization selling it. The presence of the organization's name on the back serves as a certificate of authenticity. Ideal as a gift, an “extraordinary” gift, for a collection or other. This is a rare and hard-to-find item. The stone inside measures 1.1 cm long and 1 cm high.
