Bukhara-style carpet with a Turkmen design – hand-knotted – 120 × 80 cm Interesting carpet of Turkmen origin, made according to the textile tradition of Central Asia and characterized by a personal interpretation of the famous decorative repertoire commonly associated with Bukhara rugs. The central field, in an intense ruby red, is organized according to a rigorous geometric structure: nine large gul arranged in three rows, each enriched internally by small geometric and stylized floral motifs. Among the main gul appear secondary octagonal medallions and small connecting elements, which create a composition particularly rich and rhythmic. Also very interesting is the articulation of the multiple borders. The broad main band presents a geometric pattern repeated in tones of red, orange, ivory and brown, flanked by thinner borders that complete the composition and emphasize the tribal character of the rug. The color palette is that typically associated with Turkmen tradition: ruby red and brick red, accompanied by orange, dark brown, black and small ivory accents. Color variations and slight irregularities of the weaving contribute to the charm of the handcrafted work. The term “Bukhara” identifies in this case the decorative repertoire, while the origin of the rug is Turkmen. The gul are in fact one of the most characteristic elements of the textile culture of the Turkmen peoples of Central Asia. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 120 × 80 cm, the rug is very versatile and can be used in front of a console, beside a bed, in a study, in an entrance, or as a decorative element within a collection of Oriental textiles. Characteristics: Origin: Turkmen area / Central Asia Type: Bukhara-pattern rug Manufacture: hand-knotted Design: geometric gul Dimensions: about 120 × 80 cm Predominant colors: ruby red, brick red, orange, brown, black and ivory The rug shows the natural characteristics of a handmade item. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow you to directly assess the design, colors and condition. A small rug with a strong decorative character, in which the repetition of the traditional gul and the richness of the borders effectively express the textile language of Central Asia.
