Splendid and exceptional collectible folder composed of 19 important original antique prints and engravings, dating from the late 17th century to the mid-19th century. The sheets are loose, never framed or mounted on a support, preserving the original material characteristics. The collection is structured into four major thematic and historical nuclei: 1. Grotesque Costumes - Nicolas de Larmessin I / II (Paris, c. 1690) • Quantity: 3 original copper engravings (Engraving/Etching). • Subjects: Habit d'Orfèvre (Goldsmith's costume), Habit de Rotisseur (Roaster's costume), Habit de Chirurgien (Surgeon's costume). • Historical notes: Bear the address of the Paris workshop "Chez N. de Larmessin, Rue St. Jacques, à la Pomme d'Or" and the Ancien Régime copyright "Avec Privil. du Roy" (Louis XIV). 2. The Spanish Bullfights - Henri Pierre Léon Pharamond Blanchard & Léon Sabatier (Paris, 1852) • Quantity: 6 original-era lithographs. • Subjects: Complete narrative sequence of the bullfighting including Chevalier tuant le Taureau d'un coup de lance, Cachetero, Les Banderilleros, Division de la Place, Enlèvement du Taureau de la Place, Mort du Taureau. • Historical notes: Homogeneous set printed in Paris by the renowned lithographic printing house of Cattier and distributed by Goupil & Cie. 3. Fox Hunting in England - John Frederick Herring Sen. (London, 1846 / 1852) • Quantity: 7 total mezzotints from the period divided into two coherent formats. • Series Grande (4 plates - Complete Series of 1852): Fox-Hunting, Plates 1, 2, 3, 4 (The Meet, The Find, The Run, The Kill), published by Fores, 41 Piccadilly. • Series Minor (3 plates of 1846): The Meet, The Find, The Death, etched by T.W. Huffam and published in London by Baily Brothers, Royal Exchange. 4. Vedutismo e Vedute Ottiche / Mondo Nuovo (France/Germania, XVIII Secolo) • Quantity: 3 original-era engravings with contemporaneous coloring. • Subjects: Vue du Chateau Royal de Pillnitz (after J.A. Thiele) and rare Vedute Ottiche da scatola magica published in Paris by Jean-François Daumont including "La Cour d'Auerbach a Leipsig" (with mirrored title above), "Maison de Plaisance a Livorne", "La Ville et Chateau a Heidelberg". Technical Details and Condition: • Plate/image size (internal): about 29 x 21.5 cm. • Overall sheet size (external): about 28.5 x 36 cm. • Size notes: Slight and entirely normal millimetre discrepancies (gaps of 2-4 mm both on the inner image and on the outer sheet between plates). This heterogeneity is a typical, genuine, and defensible characteristic of artisanal manufacture of old plates and the manual trimming of ancient paper (17th-19th centuries). • Condition: Good overall given the age of supports. Natural and widespread foxing and slight oxidation stains due to aging of the ferrous components of the handmade antique paper, elements that attest to and certify authenticity. Generally sound margins with minor signs of time wear at the edges. Tracked shipping and professional rigid protective packaging to ensure the integrity of the loose sheets.
