Val Saint Lambert “Eurydice” Crystal Port / Dessert Wine Glasses, Belle Époque, Art Nouveau, c. 1904–1905 An elegant set of six Val Saint Lambert cut-crystal glasses from the “Eurydice” service, documented in the factory’s 1904–1905 catalogue. At approximately 14 cm high, their proportions make them particularly suitable for port, dessert wine or other fortified wines. Designed at the height of the Belle Époque, Eurydice beautifully reflects the Art Nouveau aesthetic of the period. Each glass is entirely hand-finished, with a finely cut botanical motif, a slender faceted stem and a radiating star-cut foot. Particularly elegant is the small flattened collar between the bowl and stem, known in traditional glassmaking terminology as a merese. Made from brilliant, resonant clear crystal, the glasses combine delicacy with remarkably intricate cutting. The 19th century marked a period of significant growth for Val Saint Lambert. By the early 1900s, the company employed over 5,000 workers, producing 120,000 pieces of glass daily.
