An elegant and highly decorative pair of French Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) cassolettes / urn vases, dating from the turn of the 20th century (circa 1900).The vases feature a beautifully sculpted, high-relief design titled "Le Petit Vendangeur" (The Little Grape Picker), deeply influenced by the famous models of the Moreau dynasty of sculptors (attributed to François or Auguste Moreau). Each vase is adorned with an intricately detailed, three-dimensional figure of a playful Putto (cherub) climbing up the neck and holding onto finely detailed grapevine handles with clusters of grapes and foliage. The bodies of the vases are decorated with low-relief patterns of blossoming flowers and organic, flowing lines typical of the Art Nouveau period.The metal structures feature a warm, rich dark brown patina and are securely mounted on their original, heavy circular bases made of veined natural marble. One of the marble feet has been glued. Photos are part of the description. Will be sent with safe packaging.
