China, Qing Dynasty (19th century) – Large baluster porcelain vase from the Rose Canton / Famille Rose decor Description of the lot: Important baluster vase with flared neck and lobed collar in export porcelain from China. The piece features a rich polychrome enamel painting in the Famille Rose palette, combining the traditional Rose Canton palette: figurative medallion cartouches housing palace scenes and scenes of courtly life animated by imperial figures and dignitaries, alternating with secondary reserves adorned with literati, children, peonies, longevity fruits (peaches) and butterflies. The neck is adorned with molded gilded relief mounts forming paired Fu dogs (Chinese guardian lions) facing each other, while the shoulder is enhanced with gilded chilong dragons applied in high relief. Origin: China Period: Qing Dynasty, 19th century (c. 1860–1880) Style / Model: Famille Rose / Rose Canton Material: Enamelled porcelain, gilded highlights Dimensions: Height 36.4 cm | Neck diameter 17 cm | Base diameter 15.5 cm Weight: 2 723 g Condition: Good overall condition with a fresh brightness of the polychrome enamels. Presence of three nicks / small light chips discreetly on the lip/collar or edges, without impact on the solidity or overall aesthetics of the piece. Slight normal wear over time on the gilding of the mounts (chilong) and the Fo lions, and patina on the underside of the foot.
