Vatican - Military medal - Order of the Holy Sepulchre

The Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is one of the oldest and most prestigious knightly orders within the Roman Catholic Church. The order is directly under the authority of the Pope and is led by a Cardinal-Grand Master. The history of the order is rooted in the time of the Crusades (around the year 1114). Originally it was a group of knights and canons who were tasked with guarding the tomb of Jesus in Jerusalem.
