Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Vedova Besio e Figlio - Dinner plate (25) - Ceramic
25 pieces of old hard-paste earthenware, made by the historic Piedmontese manufacturer “Vedova Besio e Figlio” of Mondovì. The mark impressed on the back with the crowned coat of arms allows dating this lot with precision to the late 19th century and the very first years of the 20th century (roughly 1890–1910). The service is distinguished by a refined eclectic period decoration: Center: Polychrome figurative scene in chinoiserie style, with figures in traditional Eastern garments immersed in a garden. On the edge (rim): Rich floral border with roses and leaves, enriched by a brown/gold speckled background and a black geometric meander. Lot details: Total quantity: 25 pieces (ideal for collectors or for anyone wishing to set a historically charming table). Conditions: As authentic pieces with over a century of history, they display the typical and fascinating “craquelure” (fine crazing of the glaze over time) and some physiological wear on the gilded edge or slight chipping along the borders, which attest to their authenticity and use in the period. Overall they present in good preservation for their age.
