Veronika Obushikhina - Inflection 2 XL

The work explores the relationship between bodily presence and inner human experience. Line and negative space together create the figure, while colour expresses the unity of visible form and experiences that have no contours of their own. Through a reduced visual language, the painting approaches the body as a space in which the external and the internal are inseparable. The painting is made with acrylic on canvas. The artwork measures 80 х 100 cm, with a depth of 3,5 cm, and the edges are painted to match the composition. The total canvas size, including borders, is 91×111 cm. For protection, the surface is coated with a satin varnish. The painting will be shipped without a stretcher frame, rolled in a cardboard tube for safe transportation. About the artist: Veronika Obushikhina (b. 1976, Russia) is a contemporary artist based in Barcelona, Spain. Working across painting and video, Obushikhina investigates the relationship between space, perception, and human presence through a visual language characterized by geometric reduction, spatial structure, and formal restraint. Drawing from minimalist and conceptual traditions, her work explores how architecture, horizon, figure, and emptiness function as points of orientation within contemporary experience. Through carefully constructed compositions, she creates contemplative environments that examine balance, distance, silence, and the perceptual conditions through which we understand place and presence. Her practice reflects an ongoing interest in the capacity of visual form to shape psychological and spatial awareness. Obushikhina’s work has been exhibited internationally in Europe and the United States, including presentations at MEAM – Museu Europeu d’Art Modern, Barcelona; Art Mozaik Fine Art Gallery, Santa Fe; and exhibitions in Barcelona, Málaga, and Berlin. In 2026, she will present the solo exhibition Where Form Remains at Arttek Gallery, Barcelona. Her works are held in private collections throughout Europe and the United States and are featured on international platforms including Artsy, Singulart, Artfinder, and The Artling. Obushikhina completed her studies at the Institute of Mediterranean Culture in 2025. She continues to develop a multidisciplinary practice situated at the intersection of perception, spatial inquiry, and contemporary minimalism. Instagram @obushikhina
