Villeroy & Boch - 5 Assiettes décoratives « Design Naïf »...

Villeroy & Boch – 5 decorative plates « Design Naïf » – Laplau – Luxembourg – circa 1980-1990 RARE and Elegant decorative porcelain plates from Villeroy & Boch Luxembourg, drawn from the famous Design Naïf collection, inspired by the works of the French artist Gérard Laplau, a prominent figure of contemporary naive painting. Diameter 17 cm. Figurine scene from collection numbers 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 On one plate there is a small mark on the side. A manufacturing defect on the edge of the plate a tiny hole. And on another a bucket in the rim. These are very minor faults; the motifs are in very good condition. The scenes finely depict rural and village life: a lively square of a Lorraine village and a traditional farm scene. The illustrations, with bright colors and poetic composition, are framed by an elegant white wing highlighted by a double black filet, a refined signature of this series. Produced by Villeroy & Boch Luxembourg, a porcelain factory founded in 1748, these pieces perfectly illustrate the meeting of naive art and European porcelain craftsmanship.
