Vintage Entourage Ring With Sapphire & Diamonds in White Gold, Circa 1975

A real classic in the field of vintage jewellery is the Entourage ring. It presents us with one of the most effective ways to vividly stage a large coloured stone: Framed in a wreath of white diamonds, which in contrast enhance the effect of a coloured stone. White gold was often used for this purpose in the second half of the 20th century, because it takes a back seat in terms of colour and allows the gemstones to come to the fore. The ring presented here also varies this classic motif. Here, a dark blue sapphire is set in the center of the design. The stone is oval faceted and has a mysterious, almost night-black colour. It is surrounded by an entourage of twelve brilliant cut diamonds, that are, like the sapphire, held by white gold.
