Violet Miriam Parkhurst (1921-2008) - Coucher de soleil

Violet PARKHURST (1921-2008) Flaming sunset over the ocean Oil on canvas, Dimensions: 90 x 60 cm Signed “PARKHURST” in full letters at the bottom right. Note from the expert : This large-format masterwork (90 x 60 cm) is a magistral demonstration of Violet Parkhurst's genius, one of the most famous American marine painters of the 20th century, whose collections include several American presidents and major Hollywood stars. The composition, remarkable for the softness of its pastel gradations of pinks and purples, captures the precise moment when the sun inflames the horizon. The subtle technique used to convey the shimmer of light on the dark water is characteristic of the artist's masterpieces. A rare opportunity for collectors: The chromatic palette and the structure of this painting strikingly recall the iconic work Parkhurst herself chose to illustrate the cover of her reference book, “Painting Sunsets.” A highly sought-after masterpiece, bearing witness to the quintessence of her art.
