Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / VOLTA - XXL “The Storks’ Meadow”

The meadow rises almost to the sky and fills the entire canvas, while the horizon stays high, compressed by a band of dark trees and clouds laid on thickly. The green changes temperature as it approaches: light and almost yellow in the distance, then ever deeper, broken by vertical brushstrokes that look like grass bending in the wind. Above, a rain of small blue and orange touches does not describe precise flowers but gives them their rhythm. In the center a stork stands still, others skim toward the back. The tradition of the flowering meadow as decorative surface, flat and all in the foreground, here opens into depth: you enter the field instead of looking at it, and the color remains in motion as in a day about to change. Signed and dated 2026 at the bottom right Image size: 150 x 70 cm Overall canvas size: 160 x 80 cm The work is sold without a frame; it will be rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube. The certificate of authenticity is issued exclusively on request, in digital format. Volta's research moves in the wake of a return — not nostalgic, but active. The great tradition of European painting is the starting point: the period each work evokes, from time to time. But the gesture with which this heritage is traversed is unequivocally contemporary. Color does not illustrate, it breathes. The brushstroke does not describe, it vibrates. What remains of the past is the deep structure — a certain idea of body, of space, of light — while the surface is all-present, all alive. Volta does not quote, returns: his compositions seem to emerge from a shared cultural memory, brought to light with different eyes.
