Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Wall decoration (6) - Modernists - France
Set of six decorative wall mirrors made of copper and brass from the mid-20th century, inspired by modernist aesthetics and the artisanal tradition of repoussage metalwork. Each piece presents an individualized design, though all share a common decorative language based on sinuous lines, organic motifs, and the taste for artisanal ornamentation characteristic of Art Nouveau from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The set gathers mirrors of varied geometric shapes, including circular, octagonal, rectangular, diamond-shaped, and arched models, creating a dynamic and highly decorative visual composition. The frames are crafted from copper and brass sheets worked with repoussage and punching techniques, forming borders of tiny perforations, stylized floral motifs, undulations, and curved elements that recall Central European and Mediterranean modernist productions. The different tones of the metal, ranging from reddish copper reflections to gilded brass nuances, add chromatic richness to the ensemble. The patina acquired over time enhances the artisanal character of the pieces and emphasizes the depth of the reliefs. Some of the mirrors show signs of aging in the electroplate, a common phenomenon in objects of this type that contributes to their authenticity and decorative charm. Notably, the rows of circular perforations surrounding several of the frames stand out, generating an interesting play of light and shadow and adding visual lightness to the compositions. The combination of diverse shapes allows multiple display possibilities, to be arranged as a mural ensemble or used individually as small decorative accents. Due to its artisanal character, the beauty of its metal finishes, and its evocation of the modernist repertoire, this set constitutes an attractive decorative collection ideal for eclectic, bohemian, or vintage-inspired interiors, imparting warmth, personality, and a suggestive air of mid-20th-century decorative arts. Shipped with certificate service and good packaging.
