Rizzo began his career as a photographer in Paris in the early 1940s. He initially worked as a photo reporter for various agencies and magazines. Later, he mainly photographed fashion spreads and celebrities. In 1947, he went to the United States for the Blackstar agency and discovered California, where he did many reports on Hollywood stars like Gregory Peck, Richard Widmark, Gary Cooper, and Joan Crawford. When he returned to France in 1949, he was hired at the launch of Paris Match, for which he created the first color cover featuring a photograph of Winston Churchill. Over the course of his career, Rizzo took portraits of numerous well-known personalities, including Marilyn Monroe, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Brigitte Bardot, Marlene Dietrich, Coco Chanel and Jack Nicholson.
