An Issued Rarity from Massachusetts Wrentham, Massachusetts. Wrentham Bank. 1861 $1. PCGS Currency Very Choice New 64 PPQ. No. 440. Plate B. Another issued rarity from Massachusetts dating to the 1860s. This note represents the Wrentham Bank which originally received a state charter in 1832 and ultimately went about a vigorous redemption campaign in the 1860s after the bank converted in 1865. Today issued notes on this bank are excessively rare and seldom offered with individual denominations typically trading years or even decades apart on the auction circuit. This example is nonetheless exceptional among its peers by virtue of the grade assigned and boasts sharp penned signatures attributable to Cashier Francis N. Plimpton and President Calvin Fisher (Jr.) that collectively lend a powerful impression that does well to convey the eye appeal inherent to this obligation issued by the Wrentham Bank during the 1860s. This institution ultimately became the National Bank of Wrentham (Charter# 1085) in 1865. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Provenance: From the Caine Collection. Whitman Plate Note.
