Yamazaki 1991 The Owner's Cask by Kawachiya - Suntory - b. 2007 - 700ml

Lot Description: Yamazaki 1991 "The Owner's Cask" – Excellent Smokey Overview A crown jewel for collectors of Japanese whisky, this 1991 Yamazaki Single Cask is a rare artifact from Suntory’s prestigious "The Owner's Cask" series. Distilled in 1991 and matured for 16 years in a Hogshead cask at the legendary Ohmi Aging Cellar, this expression was bottled in 2007 at the peak of its complexity for Kawachiya. The Kawachiya Selection: A Legendary Pedigree This particular bottle bears the significant distinction of being "Selected by Kawachiya." To the uninitiated, Kawachiya is not merely a liquor store; it is a legendary institution in the Tokyo spirits scene. • The Curator’s Eye: For decades, Kawachiya has been synonymous with the highest tier of curation. Their ability to secure and select specific casks from Suntory’s elite inventory is a testament to their deep-rooted influence and unerring palate. • The "Excellent Smokey" Profile: Unlike the typical fruit-forward or sherry-heavy Yamazaki profiles, this cask was specifically chosen for its rare peated character. Appropriately titled "Excellent Smokey," it offers a window into a stylistic era of Yamazaki production that is increasingly difficult to find in today’s market. • Collectible Status: Bottlings with the Kawachiya stamp are historically some of the most sought-after on the secondary market. They represent a "seal of quality" that guarantees the liquid inside was chosen by experts who helped define the golden age of Japanese whisky appreciation.
