About the artist: Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools, currently living and working in Alicante, Spain. This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary means to explore themes related to nature, landscape and the intimate relationship between woman and her environment. Her works subtly and powerfully address themes such as beauty, love, sensuality and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic and refined atmospheres. With a vibrant and expressive aesthetic, Yamila Velázquez manages to merge classical influences with a modern language, resulting in versatile, fresh and deeply evocative works. The pictorial texture of her images, the masterful use of color and emotionally balanced composition position her work as a current artistic proposal of high aesthetic value. This imposing neoclassical-contemporary diptych presents the figure of an angel captured in a moment of ecstasy and ascent, whose sculptural countenance becomes a powerful visual metaphor of the philosophy of Kintsugi. The anatomy of the celestial being, evocative of classical marble, is not shown immaculate, but crossed by complex veins and golden cracks that emulate the gold seams of the Japanese tradition; thus, the fractures in its skin and the radiance that emanates from its wings do not represent decay, but a sublime transformation where the wounds of the soul or of the fall have been repaired with honor. The contrast between the purity of the left panel and the dramatic opulence of the dark wing in the right panel elevates imperfection to a category of sacred beauty, celebrating resilience and the dignification of pain through art.
