Yvan Galikoff - Or 22 carats - Dictionnaire de...

Yvan Galikoff – Dictionary of Occultism and Magic – Jean de Bonnot, 1992 (cover figure in 22-carat gold) Fascinating and sought-after edition by Jean de Bonnot of Yvan Galikoff's Dictionary of Occultism and Magic, published in 1992: a volume with a strong aesthetic impact, conceived to unite the charm of the ancient book with the editorial tradition of the great illustrated works. A particularly evocative work for enthusiasts of esotericism, the history of beliefs, occultism and symbolism, rich in references to the traditions that, through the centuries, have fueled the imagination related to the world of the invisible. Spectacular editorial presentation The volume immediately stands out for its refined Jean de Bonnot binding. The leatherette leather-colored binding, engraved and finely worked, features a cover embellished with a fascinating 22-carat gold impressed decoration: a mysterious hand emerges from the foliage, crossed by thin golden lines, creating a strongly evocative effect. The spine is enriched by the label with the title and by a splendid allegorical esoteric vignette in black and gold, signed J. Bronstun. The finished edges complete the opulent look of the volume. A presentation that makes the book particularly suitable as a library piece or a refined collector's item. The contents The Dictionary of Occultism and Magic offers a wide repertoire dedicated to the main esoteric traditions and practices, spanning centuries of the history of mindsets and beliefs. Among the topics covered: * Alchemy * Astrology * Divination * Witchcraft * Kabbalah * Secret societies * Esoteric beliefs and practices * Symbolism and traditions related to the occult The volume is also enriched by several complementary texts, including: * Dictionary of Dreams * The Practice of Personal Magnetism by Victor Turnbull * The Powers of the Mind by Prentice Mulford A rich iconographic apparatus Particularly fascinating is the illustrative apparatus, composed of 102 engravings drawn from the figurative tradition of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. The images confer on the volume a character almost like a historical repertoire, allowing us to observe symbols, figures and representations through which different eras have interpreted mystery, magic and the unknown. It is precisely this meeting between text, antique iconography and refined editorial craftsmanship that makes the work especially interesting for the collector. Condition The copy is in excellent condition, with the binding and decorative elements well preserved. A particularly scenographic volume, capable of standing out immediately in a library thanks to the characteristic Jean de Bonnot editorial presentation. A time-defying volume of charm More than a simple dictionary, this work represents a real journey into the history of esotericism and the Western imaginary: alchemy, magic, dreams, symbols, secret societies and ancient beliefs are gathered in a volume of strong aesthetic presence. An ideal copy for collectors of Jean de Bonnot, illustrated books, esotericism, occultism and the history of mindsets, but also a highly fascinating object for those seeking an original and refined library. A book that strikes before it is opened: a refined collectible edition, evocative in its presentation and rich in content and iconography.
